Working with a privileged boys school. The entire class was white.
Giving out coloured bits of paper to work with. I gave one boy a chocolately brown square of paper. He murmured something I didn't hear. Then he looked up at me and said, I wasn't being racist was I?
"I don't know, were you?"

I have noted it before, but since starting this project, I have really noticed how obsessed white people are by 'race' and racism. White people talk about 'them', make comments or judgements or jokes, out of the blue, for no reason... and I mean middle class 'nice' people as well... people who think they know better than the rest...
