Had a conversation about the Brick Lane Festival with N. I was saying how bad it is compared with the Baishaki Mela. He said he didn't go but his sister did and she much prefered it to the Mela. He answered that I would prefer the Mela - it's exotic for me. It's not my community but it is hers so she finds it boring.
I took that on the chin. I guess the Brick Lane Festival, aside from being a celebration of local commerce, is more about my community - the communtiy of local white arty farts.
