Had a meeting where the dread word INCLUSION came up. I have realised why people assume I am interested in particular issues, when I'm not.

I have finally realised that according to middle-class liberal orthodoxies all issues around diversity, or inclusion, or integration - whatever you want to call it - are THE SAME. I have finally realised that for people for whom these issues are merely a matter of conscience, and not personal experience, all forms of social exclusion are the same. To some liberal points of view, blackness = in need of our help, just like any other disability. I feel like I want to write something about the difference between differences. That class is not the same as 'race', that physical disability is not the same as a learning disability and that there might be some crossover between categories but there are over-riding identity issues and not all exclusion, not all of the issues are the same...
I don't know how to put it. But I have to think about it, and probably find some more people to argue with to work out what I'm trying to say...
