Those paranoid emails that go around the world. I rarely get them from people. Senders usually know not to bother but I found out a friend is on one of the big email groups. This one was about the new Matrix, the sequel - saying it's all a zionist conspiracy. You know, the place is called Zion and Hollywood is just a giant Zionist conspiracy. S even said that apparently one of the enemy's names is Allah (according to the email) but by her own admission she never heard it or noticed it when she saw the film. Still she was open to the possiblity - that old principle where there's smoke there's fire....
S is smart and lovely and wouldn't choose to hate a single group of people but I also see how influenced she is by the disinformtion going around. Some of it gets in - despite rational thought and arguing against it.
And I have some inkling of just how many conspiracy theories and lies and disinformation on all sides are going around the globe.... people believe it - on some level, it's all going in and fueling hate and distrust....
