Heard a news article on the radio about the illegal importation of meat. The reporter framed the question as a "bush meat" question - which implies that the problem is an African one, Africans living here, and the whole bush meat argument is conceived in terms of "irresponsible village Africans who don't even know that they're eating endangered species" - so even raising the issue comes with a huge amount of stereotype baggage.

But the "expert" kept trying to correct the reporter, saying that the problem is not around bush meat in the main, but around "ordinary meat" like chicken, beef, lamb - the BBC reporter didn't seem to be interested in that side of it though.
