I knew I would end up having to record today with W. She is that kind of classic liberal who talks about other groups with either pity (as charity cases) or with contempt, uttering phrases like, they don't help themselves and repeating every stereotype that has ever been propagated through the broadsheet press.
The groups we covered today included Latin American people, specifically Brazillians, Gypsies and Jews. W's mother was Jewish and W, herself, escaped as a child from Czechoslovakia in 1939 yet she comes out with some of the most blatant anti-semitism I have ever heard. She's like a case study in internalised oppression and discourse analysis. She's genuinely a very kind person and yet she comes out with the most unthought through drivel... I don't really engage with much of what she says. I mostly remain silent and feel tired.
