K: "A funny thing happened. I was sitting and G was sitting next to me in class, but L stood behind her and she got up and moved further down the bench. They're from the same village in Africa so I think it was some kind of traditional respect for elders things from the village. L is older than G so G had to get up for her."

"Don't you think you're just seeing it that way because that's what you think African village life is like? It could be any number of reasons - normal english-style bullying, G was saving a seat for L, a coincidence that you chose to read through the framework of a stereotype. Why didn't you just ask why she moved?"
