BLACCXN (2004–2014)

BLACCXN was invented during my doctoral research into art as a democratic act (2004-2008).

It was an imaginary ‘meta-corporation’, a multinational corporation larger than any that existed then or now. I liked to think of it as Walmart + Glaxo-Smith-Kline + Unilever. I invented the metacorp, BLACCXN, as a character, a landscape, a context for a dystopian future where corporations are as powerful as the largest nation states.

It was an architectural project
-The creation of a third wing on the Houses of Parliament: the new House of Corporations

It was a performance
-As the PR guru (No 3) for BLACCXN, I performed at Edinburgh Fringe and Whitechapel Art Gallery

It was a painting intervention
-‘Test Site’ a birds eye view of an office, specifically the Board Room at the London Stock Exchange, placed in Victoria Tower Gardens, the location for the House of Corporations.

It was a novel
-‘Ohm’s Law, the relationship between power and resistance’

It was a critique of neoliberal capitalism
-Trickle Down+
