Names are a tricky thing. When you have a 'funny name', you get used to people mispronouncing it. Sometimes, though, there is more to it. Sometimes, the person stumbling over the un-English consonant/vowel combinations seems to be making a point: You are unpronouncable/'foreign'.
I have often encountered this with J. She still spells my name wrongly despite the many occasions she has had to write it and the many times I have pointed out the oversight. I know this is complicated by the fact that she's probably dyslexic.
Today she refused to pronounce some Japanese names. One of them happens to be a friend of mine. That's beside the point though. I know what unpronouncability can mean.
