I wasn't sure what I was going to do with racism via the media. I wasn't sure whether those occasions 'count' in terms of what I am trying to do with this work. This is not a 'discourse analysis' situation, but I do know that I am directly affected by instances of racism through tv, advertising or wherever. I feel angry or disempowered or frightened so it has to count.
I'm not going to retrace my footsteps though. What I mean by this is that I am not going to go over remembered instances of some very blatant media racism that occured throughout the tennis coverage at Wimbledon. I will only record as I experience the world.
So that's my new parameter: recording racism as it affects my life, things I do, say, think and experience, in whatever form that experience takes.
