My biggest fear in coming to Iceland, Reykjavik - was that the whole population would be homogenous - homogenously blonde. Though Bjork isn't of course but still I was nervous... and when I got there I saw a small percentage of the population who aren't white, maybe one percent... maybe a bit more.
Still, it made me relieved somehow.... genetic or ethnic homogeniety makes me nervous. It feels imposed, not natural, like the culture has imposed scary barriers. Two of the non-European descent people I saw were cleaning staff at the hotel I stayed at first... it might be coincidental, though.
