There's a poster around my borough about drugs. It has a Somali boy facing the camera standing on one of the local streets. tBut the text is in Bengali and the English strap line is "drugs effect more than one community".
There are many poster campaigns and adverts on tv that I'm not sure about - ones that are giving wierd or mixed messages about all sorts of things including 'race' and class and propagating other kinds of stereotypes but this one stands out because it's the local authority. I don't know whether they wanted to portray two communities - Somali and Bengali and decided to use one for the visuals and the other for the text or whether they decided to lump all minority ethnic people together and say look, drugs are their problem, not ours. I just don't know.
