Friend talking about housing. I was encouraging him to go onto the council list or a housing association list.
He said, but I'm not black and pregnant.
I said, you don't have to be. You get points for degrees of desperation, but you dont' get points for being black. In fact you sometimes get housed because you're white becuse they keep an eye on the statistics so that it's fair across communities.
He said he was discouraged last time he tried. They said he would never get housed.
I wondered what kind of a person it was who told him that. I wondered whether they were white or not and why they would lead him to believe that he wouldn't get housed because he is white... or whether he just decided that was the case for himself.
